THE BUDGET OPTION: Wedding return address label templates
These label templates are purchased as a digital download that you can print at home, or send to a print shop or online printer. This is an affordable and flexible option when you don’t know exactly how many labels you’ll end up needing across all your save the dates and invites.

Why include a return address on wedding invitations?
Loving all the label options, but still not sold on why you need them?
Well, the main reason to add a return address on wedding invitations is to ensure that they’ll make their way back to you should they get lost in the mail.
That way you’ll know if an invitation hasn’t made it to one of your invitees and you can take action to get another invitation out to them.
You can always write your return address on your envelopes, but that gets tiring pretty quickly. Plus, it could smudge and it may be less legible for the postal workers to decipher.
So, using a wedding invitation return address label is a great choice to add your address details without getting cramp from writing your address over and over again!
Return address label etiquette
Where should the return address go on the envelope?
The return address for wedding invitations works best on the back of the envelope. The front of the envelope will have your guest’s address and adding another address, as well as stamps would just look messy.
What return address should be on your wedding invitations?
So, whose address should go on the wedding invitation return address labels? This depends on who is dealing with the RSVPs. You could put:
- Your own name and address if you’ll personally be dealing with RSVP responses.
- Both you and your fiancé’s names if you’ll both be working on responses.
To save space on the label you would likely just use your first names (like in the label examples above). Or, you can address the label to “The Future Mr & Mrs”. These options tend to suit a more formal/ casual wedding theme.
- The bride’s parents address if they’re taking the lead on the guestlist
This isn’t common these days but used to be how it was traditionally done as invitations were sent by the bride’s parents.
Whose name goes first on return address labels?
When it comes to wedding invitation return address etiquette, I’d suggest that the bride’s name goes first on the label. This is in line with wedding invitation and save the date etiquette and, as above, is a throwback to when invitations came from the bride’s parents.
